The Indifferent Humans
Why is that that in spite of sharing the same sky, the same sun rays, and the same air, we remain indifferent of one another? What makes it more unbelievable is that we hate some people just for a simple reason which is not even their fault! Why do we think that we are superior to others just because we are from a major religion and the other is not; or because we are straight and they are from LGBTQ+ community; or just for the silliest reason - for you being a man and the other a woman!
Pseudo Female Friendship Stereotypes & Why We are Ditching Them
We live in a time where female friendships are expected to be toxic, bitchy and/or competitive. That is the power the media has in shaping perceptions, something I think they take very lightly, or not? I do not mean that some women are not bitchy or toxic or competitive sometimes BUT these characteristics are not the defining factor of what female friendships should be like.
Maybe you’re supposed to be studying right now but you’re reading this, maybe a lot of your work is unresolved but you’re watching re-runs of your favorite show, maybe you have errands to complete but you just can’t find the will to get work done. We spend so much time believing we’re feeling nothing, doing nothing when we’re doing so many little things together. We’ve trained our minds into believing that we have to be productive at every single waking moment.
New Life: A Series
Here I am on a plane miles away from home, relocating! What exactly had I thought taking a job that I am not even sure I can keep? Who was I trying to prove something to? Was it myself? Or family? Or Saleem? It'd sure be pleasant to show that good for nothing fool who I turned out to be. I mean I'm no longer the, "I'm sorry" type, whether I had made the mistake or not. I'm more of the "why doth my God try me with imbeciles" type!
It's all about the next step
Everyone encounters bad phases in their lives. There is no one in the world who is altogether living a perfectly happy life. Everyone has his or her own set of problems. There are many people who are born with a silver spoon but it doesn’t mean that they’ll not encounter any hardship in their life. Survive today because life is all about the next step.
Born in a family of fair-complexioned women, I was always insecure of my dusky complexion as a kid. It never really bothered me, until one day, my friend in school pointed out the difference in mine and my sister’s complexions. Now I didn’t know it mattered so much and I couldn’t answer her back, so I just kept quiet. The song “Mai aisa kyu hu” kept ringing in my head till the end of school that day.
I am that book on the shelf you won't pick, because it doesn't look interesting enough. The cover isn't particularly attractive and it surely doesn't catch the eyes of many. It looks "ordinary". If only you knew, it's a lot more than that brown coloured cover which resembles the colour of my eyes.
So My Angel is...
Now for a while, just go back to the flashback of your life moments. You would definitely come to a conclusion that who has actually been shadowing you in your tough times and stood with you at those difficult situations where you were able to draw strength from your faith, is none other than…
Moving Away from The Joneses
Let me live my own life at my own pace, helped and guided by my God, singing my own tune, whether it be off-key or not, content to have a not-so-perfect house, or perfectly manicured lawn, or perfect clothes everyday, or perfect car, or anything resembling a utopian existence… All this chasing of one’s tail in order to be as ‘successful’ as the next person, is wearying to the soul, and certainly, adds nothing to your true worth, value and significance.
Society is pressuring me
This other part thinks freedom means goings to school and getting educated. But that isn't real freedom, freedom is when we are allowed to express our thoughts freely, when we don't have to live in fear or fear what other people think, when we can be ourselves, that's real freedom.
