The Indifferent Humans

Why is that that in spite of sharing the same sky, the same sun rays, and the same air, we remain indifferent of one another? What makes it more unbelievable is that we hate some people just for a simple reason which is not even their fault! Why do we think that we are superior to others just because we are from a major religion and the other is not; or because we are straight and they are from LGBTQ+ community; or just for the silliest reason - for you being a man and the other a woman!

If you were superior, then I am sure God would have definitely made a special modification for you. But you are not. For a tiger and a deer drink water from the same pond! For a king and a beggar cross the river in the same way! And thus a Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, Christian or people from any religion are equal! And for the same reason straight, lesbian, gay, bisexual, asexual or people from any sexual orientation are equal. And for the very same reason a man, woman, trans, queer or people from any gender are equal. And black, white, brown, mixed or people from any race are equal. Because they all are humans and that is the most common thing about them.

For being a human and bring treated like one is the biggest of a privilege. And being a human is the top most reason to be respected and to be given the basic human rights. The right to be whatever we want to be, do whatever we want to do, love whoever we want to, as far as it does not prevent the freedom of others to do the same. Let us not be indifferent of one another as we all belong to the greatest of caste - human, and to the greatest of religion - humanity!

I have society to fear, its grueling questions. At an individual level, people's experience of reactance strongly depends on the most attainable goals and values when the threat occurs. In the COVID-19 case, fundamental goals and values such as education, the right to freely move, and religious practices are threatened. Two main factors that determine the reaction to these announced health-related measures are the absoluteness and self-relevance. If the threat is absolute, people rationalize it. If it is not, people respond with reactance. Both become stronger when the threat is self-relevant.
